Shillong, Jan 17: Deputy Chief Minister in-charge Home (Police) and Public Works Department (Roads & Buildings) Prestone Tynsong on Friday said the NPP-led MDA government is too busy making efforts to bring more and more developmental schemes for the benefit of the people and has no time to waste talking about opposition political parties and their baseless allegations.
Responding to query on the preparedness of NPP for the upcoming autonomous district council (ADC) elections in Khasi and Jaintia Hills region, Tynsong said that he does not see that the baseless allegations made by the opposition parties will have any impact on the prospect of his party during the elections.
According to him, this is not a new thing that political parties in the opposition bench would throw all sorts of allegations at the party, which is leading the government.
“So be it VPP or be it any party, it is their duty to say that. Even me if I am in the opposition, I have to say that this government is corruption and this government is like that otherwise your name will be washed away. You get my point. So I will not spend much time on this because ultimately I am telling you the best way to see is on February 4, the counting day then only we will understand,” Tynsong told reporters.
Asked, the deputy CM said, “What anti-incumbency factor are you talking about? I just named these projects being implemented by whom? Rs 5000 crore plus I think it is not at all a joke and then if you talk about Rs 15000 crore again that corridor road, so can you imagine that Meghalaya, which is a small state, we get so much projects and schemes. Why we get? It is because the government is very active. We are able to also convince the government of India, that is why we get this.”
“We don’t spent time here to say oh this fellow is like this and like that, we don’t have time to do that. We have time only to go to Delhi with a bowl and folded hands please give us no matter, if we have to bow down our heads, we have to for whom? For the interest of the people of the state. That is why I don’t have time to talk about other parties or anybody but we have sleepless nights on how to bring more projects, more schemes in our state,” he further stated while adding “These projects does not they are for Prestone, it does not mean that it will benefit to Prestone’s family. It is for the benefit of the citizens of the state for generation and generation.”
On the decision of some NPP MDCs to contest as independent candidates, Tynsong however said, “I have nothing to say. This is democracy. You have every right to do that. Whether you want to contest from BJP or you want to contest from any party or you want to contest independently since the constitution of India allows so I have nothing to say. It depends on them. It depends on their assessment. Nothing to say on that.”
