Govt to soon take final call on appointment of MSCW chairperson

SHILLONG, FEB 6: Social Welfare Minister Paul Lyngdoh on Monday informed that two additional applications have been received for the post of chairperson of the Meghalaya State Commission for Women (MSCW).

“I have been informed that apart from the four names that were suggested and recommended by the search committee, two additional applications have also been received,” Lyngdoh said.

“And we will be taking a final decision within this week since the last date for submission of such applications is already over,” he added.

Asked, the minister said, “We want complete transparency and in order to give everybody a fair chance, we said that we would go beyond the names recommended by the search committee which is why we went for an advertisement asking for applications from interested candidates so in that process, two more applications have reached us.”
