Dhar informed the Deputy Commissioner has written to the Chief Engineer PWD Roads directing him to assess the permissible load advisable to allow vehicles to ply over the Umiam Umrynjah bridge.

This after the Sunjuk ki San Dorbar Shnong had brought to the notice of the Deputy Commissioner on February 12, that there are overloaded trucks plying through the Umiam Umrynjah bridge at night. The Synjuk had stated in the letter that the overloading trucks may cause damage to the bridge which is the only connecting point in the village.

He however said till date the assessment report from the Chief Engineer (PWD) Roads is still awaited.

“It is to bring to the concern of the MLA that as soon as the Chief Engineer PWD Roads completes the assessment on the permissible load allowed for vehicles to ply over the concern bridge, the Deputy Commissioner will pass necessary order to restrict the load of the vehicles and necessary action will be taken by the government,” Dhar assured.
