Shillong, Nov 3: Education Minister Lahkmen Rymbui today said that the education department is holding a review meeting on November 5 to discuss resumption of normal classes in the State.
In an exclusive interview to Hub News, Rymbui said, “The Government will take call on holding regular classes as well as examination”. He also informed that the selection test for those appearing for Class X board examination will also be decided during the review meeting.
“Government will also take a call for reopening of other educational institution”, he said.
Notably in September last, Meghalaya Govt had allowed opening of schools for counselling and doubt clearing for class 9-12. However, decision to conduct regular classes is yet to be taken. Though many schools across the state has been holding test and interview for admissions in schools.
In October last, government had sought suggestions and feedback from parents regarding the reopening of schools in the State. “Apart from consulting parents, the State government had also consulted different stakeholders for reopening of normal classes”, he added.
The ministry of Home Affairs, Government of India in its guidelines of unlock 5 had mentioned that from October 15 normal classes can resume. Meghalaya government has already released an alternative academic calendar with new study plans and reduced syllabus to help the students cope with the burden of their studies.
