4.4 magnitude Earthquake hit Northeast

Shillong, Nov 3: An earthquake of 4.4 on the Richter scale hits the Northeast. Assam, Manipur and Meghalaya besides neighbouring Bangladesh felt the tremor earlier today.

No news of casualties or damages were reported.

The tremor was recorded at 1.30 am earlier today, at a shallow depth of 10 km on latitude 26.69 North and longitude 91.15-degree East with epicentre at Nongstoin in Meghalaya. Nongstoin is 93 kilometres from Shillong, the capital city of Meghalaya.

As per reports, the quake was felt by people in the area of the epicentre besides Shillong, Mairang in Manipur and Guwahati and its outskirts areas.
