GSMC’s annual conference rekindles demand for separate Garoland State

Tura, Dec 4: The Garoland State Movement Committee (GSMC) organized its Annual Conference meeting at Daribokgre on Monday, as it continues to pursue its demand for a separate Garoland State.

The focal point of discussions during the meeting revolved around the longstanding demand for the creation of a distinct Garoland State.

The conference was attended by GSMC Co-Chairman Balkarin Ch Marak, notable representatives such as Purno K Sangma, the Nokma Sordar of Daribokgre village, leaders representing various CECs, Zones, Regionals, Units, and Sub-Units, as well as residents of Daribokgre village.


GSMC Co-Chairman Balkarin Ch. Marak underscored the urgent need for unity, calling upon all attendees to join hands and work tirelessly towards realizing the vision of a separate Garoland State. Emphasizing on the fleeting nature of life, he urged the assembly to channel their efforts into this cause while the opportunity still exists. Marak specifically called upon the youth to play a pivotal role and cooperate wholeheartedly in this endeavour.

Chief Adviser Purno K Sangma highlighted the rich resources and untapped tourist potential in the Garo Region. He asserted that the region possesses the capacity to sustain itself as an independent State and advocated for exploring these resources and tourist spots for economic prosperity.

The leaders and participants at the Annual Conference echoed a unified call for concerted action and collaboration.

The conference also outlined specific aims, including a sit-in-demonstration in New Delhi, and activities throughout the New Year 2024 for the A.chik A.song people.
