GSU seeks Conrad’s intervention on rural healthcare, dilapidated bridge

Must read

Tura, Oct 17: The RCC bridge, termed as the lifeline between Rondupara to Dimagkre in West Garo Hills district is dilapidating day by day with cracks appearing on the bridge in regular intervals. Terming the incident as unfortunate, the Garo Students Union (GSU), Phulbari Regional unit, has on Saturday submitted a chartered memorandum to the State Chief Minister Conrad Sangma illustrating the grievances of the residents of Rondupara and Dimakre village.

According to the memorandum, GSU highlighted the hindrances faced by the villagers located very remotely in the district during monsoon as the season brings with it a host of problems.

Second most important priority that the memo highlighted is the construction of the Primary Health Centre (PHC) located in Rondupara village. Poor infrastructure and lack of specialists in health care centres across Garo hills is an ugly reality which challenges the state government for enhancing health care services in the state.

Adding to the woes is the fact that numerous villagers have died while being shifted to the health centres/hospitals. Hence, villages have been plagued with inadequate and inaccessible healthcare centres.

The Union has once again appealed to the CM in hopes that an intervention into the matter will be made.
