Guwahati, Feb 23: The Guwahati Municipal Corporation (GMC) announced a door-to-door collection initiative for property taxes in Guwahati city, enabling taxpayers to conveniently pay their dues from the comfort of their homes.
From now on, taxpayers in the city will be able to pay their property taxes from the comfort zone of their homes, as the tax collectors will personally visit the property owners to collect their outstanding taxes.
Under this initiative, the GMC has appointed women from local self-help groups as Home Tax Collectors who will be collecting the property taxes with POS machines, in order to make the process of property tax payment easier and to eradicate any confusion faced by the taxpayers.
It is noteworthy that, the GMC has announced a deadline of March 31 for mandatory payment of property taxes. Property owners can also pay their taxes online at gmcpropertytax.com website or at the nearest Guwahati Municipal Corporation revenue field office or customer care centres.
