Shillong, Mar 20: For almost over two decades, the dreams of the people of Lyngkien Village has been fulfilled as Mylliem Legistalor and Cabinet Minister Hamletson Dohling on March 19 laid the foundation stone for the construction of Metalling blacktopping and providing cement concrete pavement of the internal roads at Lyngkien Village, East Khasi Hills District.
The road which is of a total length of 1.70 KM was constructed under the RURAL INFRASTRUCTURE DEVELOPMENT FUND (RIDF) of the Public Works Development government of Meghalaya.
A double blessing for the local residents, the MLA also laid the foundation stone for the construction of the Lyngkien Mylliem Govt L.P School.
The Metalling blacktopping road a project under the PWD will be constructed at a sanctioned amount of 3.15 crores, whilst the L.P school at an amount of 37 lakhs.
Speaking after laying the foundation stone, MLA Hamletson said that the conditions and infrastructure facilities of the Government Schools in the state will be improved further as development of educational sector is the top priority of the present MDA government.
“The condition of the public schools were bad in the past, but now it is fast improving under the present government, almost 200 L.P schools across the state will be renovated and improved at a huge amount of not less that 40 lakhs.. development of educational institutions are our first priority”, said Dohling.
The MLA said that he will take all the necessary steps in bringing more developments to the area. Amongst the MLA, the Executive Engineer of South Shillong, WR Lyngdoh the village heads also present at the occasion.
