Harshit Dhingaun secures trademark for “DFC Delhi Fashion Week” after four years

Must read

Shillong, April 28: Harshit Dhingaun, founder of Delhi Fashion Club (DFC), has officially secured the trademark for “DFC Delhi Fashion Week” after a four years of legal battle.

Registered under application number 4733438 in Class 41 (event organizing and entertainment services), the trademark marks a major milestone not just for Harshit but also for the future of Indian fashion. The application was filed in 2020 during the height of the COVID-19 pandemic and was officially granted in 2025.

While the fashion industry was on pause during the pandemic, Harshit moved forward with a vision—to create a platform that supports artisans, promotes handloom, and empowers emerging designers. His earlier registered trademark, “DFC Delhi Fashion Club,” played a crucial role in establishing his claim and securing the new trademark despite challenges from an unknown party.

“We fought a long legal battle against an unknown entity that tried to take advantage of the name. In the end, truth and legacy won,” Harshit said.

With over 17 years in the fashion and entertainment industry, Harshit Dhingaun has worn many hats—from fashion model and reality TV personality to Bollywood host, radio jockey, and digital content creator. His experience and passion have made him a recognized figure in both fashion and entertainment circles.

Reflecting on his journey, Harshit shared, “For the last 17 years, I have been closely associated with FDCI’s India Fashion Week as a fashion blogger and contributor. The work and leadership of Sir Sunil Sethi, President of FDCI, have deeply inspired me. As we build Delhi Fashion Week, I hope to uphold similar standards and, perhaps, collaborate with FDCI in the future for the collective growth of Indian fashion.”

As Founder and Chairman of Delhi Fashion Club, Harshit revealed that owning the name “Delhi Fashion Week” was always his dream. “We have spent more than eight years promoting handloom, textiles, and organizing fashion shows that blend heritage with modern design. Today, that dream has finally come true,” he said.

DFC is set to celebrate its 10th anniversary in December 2025 with a grand edition of Delhi Fashion Week. Harshit plans to bring together top designers, celebrity fashion figures, and senior advisors from across India and beyond to mark the occasion.

Under his leadership, Delhi Fashion Club has collaborated with major events and institutions like ASSOCHAM, IIFT, Asian Designer Week, IFW Goa, IFW Chandigarh, and several international fashion weeks, paving the way for Delhi Fashion Week to grow into a national and global platform.

Looking ahead, Harshit aims to link Indian fashion to global icons such as London Fashion Week and Paris Fashion Week, pushing Delhi—and India—further onto the international fashion map.

With the official trademark now in place, any unauthorized use of the name “Delhi Fashion Week,” whether online or offline, will invite strict legal action under Indian trademark law.
