Heavy rain triggers landslide in Tura’s Rishipara area

Must read

Tura, Oct 6: A landslide occurred in the Tura Rishipara area, causing significant damage to infrastructure and posing a threat to the local residents.

Landslide occurred in Rishipara on Wednesday at around 7:30 p.m

The heavy rainfall and unstable terrain were believed to be the main factors contributing to the landslide. However, Police and people from disaster management arrived on the scene for inquiry.

Efforts are underway to assess the extent of the damage and provide immediate assistance to those affected by this natural disaster.

The affected people were given tarpaulin to cover the boundaries from further damage by rain, and on Wednesday, they were also provided with rations like rice, lentils, potato, onions, salt, oil, etc at their community hall.

Susmita Rishi, a resident, said, This landslide happened before, also in 2018, on September 10th. Even then, we asked our secretary to make the road, and only the road went down, not our house, but still nothing was done. Now that the line has come so close to our house, there are little children here, and we will not know when they might fall down because we will be in college or school and our mothers will be working in the kitchen inside. ”

Sameer Rishi, also a resident, said, “this was slowly falling apart because of rain, then yesterday all went down. Yesterday I got a call that they were making the road, and when I came home, I saw that this was totally broken. The local boys and some people spent the whole night until 10 or 12 p.m. yesterday fixing the plastic.”
