Shillong, Dec 10: The office of the Dorbar Shnat Hima Nongwah Mawtamur, Sohiong Lyngdohship, Ri Bhoi has raised objection to the report filed by the Ri-Bhoi Regional Committee under the Chairmanship of the Deputy CM Prestone Tynsong, which was submitted to the Chief Minister Conrad K Sangma on December 8.
Speaking to reporters on Friday, the secretary of Dorbar Shnat Hima Nongwah Mawtamur, P F Nongrang, said, “The main reason that has led us to be in such a deep state of disagreement is due to the inclusion of some parts and areas which fall under the jurisdiction of our Lyngdohship in the said report.”
“We humbly suggest that your esteemed office and the Ri-Bhoi regional committee under the chairmanship of Hon’ble Chairman, Prestone Tynsong, include the representatives from our Lyngdohship to or in any committees or issues which relate to or directly involve our Lyngdohship.” Nongrang added.
The Dorbar will meet the CM and provide him with the boundaries and the maps of areas under the jurisdiction of the office of the Dorbar Shnat Hima Nongwah Mawtamur, Sohiong Lyngdohship.
Nongrang urged the Chief Minister to also include the Dorbar as they have legitimate documents and maps of their land, so as to ensure that no land belonging to Meghalaya goes to Assam.
Mentionably, two of the three regional committees on Assam – Meghalaya border dispute have submitted their final report to Chief Minister Conrad K Sangma on December 8. The reports submitted are compiled with extensive field visits and interaction with residents of villages along with Assam-Meghalaya border as well as going through the land records. Regional Committees of West Khasi Hills and Ri Bhoi district submitted their respective reports.
