Guwahati, Jan 21: Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma, in a Sunday appeal, requested Rahul Gandhi to refrain from visiting Batadrava Satra on Monday during the ‘Pran Pratishtha’ ceremony of the Ram Temple.
Addressing reporters, CM Sarma emphasized his plea, stating, “I urged Rahul Gandhi not to create a perception of competition between the Ram Temple’s Pran Pratishtha ceremony and his visit to Mahapurush Srimanta Sankardeva’s birthplace at Batadrava Satra. Simultaneous coverage of these events on TV channels may not be beneficial for Assam.”
“Two windows will be played together on TV showing both events, which I think will not be good for Assam. He can go to Batadrava after 2 pm or in the morning hours. I feel if he does not got to Batadrava during those 2-3 hours during the Pran Pratishtha event will be good,” Sarma asserted.
Sarma added that as the Nyay Yatra rally is in Assam, Rahul Gandhi can visit Batadrava Satra today itself and not clash with Ram Temple consecration even.
“I am feeling a little bit pained after Rahul Gandhi chose January 22 as the day for visiting Batadrava Satra,” he said.
He said, “If you can avoid Morigaon, Nagaon, Jagiroad tomorrow it will be good. Take a rest for one day. The air, water, land is so good here. Enjoy the environment instead. Its a sensitive area and  I appealed  him not to go in the area”.
