Hospitals in Meghalaya not agreeing with CGHS rates: Ampareen

Must read

Shillong, March 28: Hospitals in the state may not agree with the Central Government Health Scheme (CGHS) rates, Minister in-charge Health & Family Welfare Ampareen Lyngdoh told the Assembly on Tuesday.

“The CGHS rate is lower than the rates of the hospitals so all hospitals likely do not agree with those rates and disparity is about 70%,” Lyngdoh said while replying to a query raised by North Shillong legislator Adelbert Nongrum.

“We have written to these hospitals but till now there has been no positive response (from their end),” the minister added.

According to her, currently only the North Eastern Indira Gandhi Regional Institute of Health & Medical Sciences (NEIGRIHMS) is implementing the CGHS rates in the state.

The minister also informed that the CGHS rates are all India standard rates and have not been reviewed for a very long period.

“We will allow the Government of India to revise the CGHS rates as it was done way back in 2005-06,” she added.

According to her, it would be incorrect for members to presume that the government is not concerned about the issue.
