Hynniewtrep Youth Council warns youth engaged in anti-social activities outside university campus

Shillong, Jan 30: The Hynniewtrep Youth Council (HYC) on Tuesday conducted a surprise inspection to address concerns about the consumption of liquor and cannabis by youths on the road leading to the University of Science and Technology Meghalaya (USTM) in Ri Bhoi.

This was done following complaints from local residents.

Led by General Secretary Tony Shylla, Vice President RC. Thangkhiew, and Vice President Warnes Lamin, HYC members conducted surprise inspections and discovered that both male and female youths have been utilising the area for drinking and smoking.

Following which, HYC issued a stern warning to those engaging in such activities, urging them to cease using the area for alcohol and cannabis consumption.

The council said that individuals involved in these activities will face consequences in the future.

Additionally, HYC has appealed to the police to conduct regular inspections in the area to deter such activities from reoccurring.
