Shillong, Jan 30: The East Khasi Hills Police on Tuesday issued a warning about a money scam circulating in the state under the guise of a fake investment platform named Numgenious AI.

The scam dupe citizens, with promises of gaining quick returns on their investment within a short period of time.

Multiple cases of this fraudulent scheme have been reported in the past week in the East Khasi Hills district, prompting an ongoing investigation to apprehend the online fraudsters behind the scam.

The group shares hourly, daily, weekly, monthly, etc. schemes claiming to multiply the investors’ money. Once the money is paid to the scammer, victims receive no further communication from the scammers, who may alter their name and link to get more people to fall prey.

The public is requested to stay alert and avoid falling victim to such money schemes. In the event of encountering similar scams, citizens are urged to report the incidents to the nearest police station.

Additionally, the public can contact the Cybercrime Helpline at 1930 or reach out to the Police Control Room in Shillong at 0364-2215427 or 6009-196479 for assistance.
