Boko, May 4: Congress leader Gaurav Gogoi on Saturday lashed out at BJP and termed Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s government as ‘most rhetorical’. He alleged the BJP has opened liquor shops in villages to destroy the youth.
“If Congress comes to power, we will open schools instead of liquor shops in Assam,” he said, while campaigning for Congress candidate for Guwahati Lok Sabha constituency Mira Borthakur Goswami at Sontali and Goroimari area.
Terming that the wind was blowing in favour of Mira Borthakur, Gogoi said, “People in Guwahati are anxiously waiting for the Congress party’s victory”. Castigating Assam Chief Minister and BJP’s star campaigner Himanta Biswa Sarma, Gogoi said, “My late father Tarun Gogoi was chief minister in Assam for 15 years, but we don’t have tea gardens, resorts, schools, News channel or newspaper.”
He also alleged that the BJP is taking votes in the name of lies and propaganda.
The campaign for the third phase of the election ends on Sunday.
