Tura, April 9: The rise in illegal activities carried out at Wadagokgre Archaeological site is causing irreparable damage to the heritage and archaeological artifacts. Keeping in mind the historical importance of the site the District Magistrate, West Garo Hills, Tura has issued an order under Section 144 Cr PC prohibiting all forms of unauthorized excavation, digging and any other illegal activity within the boundaries of the Wadagokgre- Archaeological site.
The order prohibits entry to the site without explicit permission from the Department of Arts and Culture or the office of the Deputy Commissioner, West Garo Hills, Tura
The Law Enforcement and the Department of Arts and Culture, West Garo Hills Tura are mandated to enhance surveillance to prevent any unauthorized activities in the area and any person found violating this order shall be liable for punishment as per the relevant laws, and other applicable regulations.
The order exempts personnel from the Law enforcement and the Department of Art and Culture, West Garo Hills, Tura.
This order shall come into force with immediate effect and shall remain in force until further order.
