Mumbai, Dec 26: In a recent incident, the merchant ship MV Chem Pluto reportedly fell victim to a suspected drone attack, causing significant damage. An assessment team from the Indian Navy is currently inspecting the extent of the damage and conducting an investigation into the methods employed in the attack within the Arabian Sea.
Defense officials have disclosed that Indian Navy warships are set to intensify their patrolling efforts in the region.
The Navy’s explosive ordnance disposal team conducted a thorough examination of the Liberian-flagged vessel, MV Chem Pluto, upon its arrival at Mumbai harbor. The inspection took place two days after the ship suffered a drone attack in the Arabian Sea while en route to New Mangalore port.
According to a Pentagon spokesperson, the vessel was targeted by a one-way attack drone launched from Iran, confirming the origin of the attack. The incident underscores the escalating concerns about security threats in maritime regions. Investigations are ongoing to ascertain the full extent of the damage and the circumstances surrounding the attack.
