Shillong, Mar 21: The Indian Oil Corporation’s (IOC) gas company Indane has launched new composite gas cylinders called the ‘smart cylinder for smart kitchen’ in the Shillong market at Longkmie Gas Agency Laban, Shillong.Indane composite cylinder, the latest LPG offering from Indian Oil, has a three-layered construction. The composite cylinder is made up of a blow-molded High-Density Polyethylene (HDPE) inner liner.This new cylinder is presently available in sizes of 5 kg and 10 kg. The cylinder is covered with a composite layer of polymer-wrapped fibre glass and fitted with a HDPE outer jacket. The specialty of this cylinder is that one will know how much gas is left and how much has been spent.

Salient features/ advantages of the composite cylinder
a. Light weight – the tare weight of composite cylinder is almost half that of steel cylinder.
b. The composite Cylinders come with a translucent body that enable customers to accurately check the LPG liquid level against light.
c. Rust free – composite cylinders do not corrode or rust unlike it’s metal equivalents and , therefore, there are less chances of leaving stains and marks.
d. Aesthetic looks – The composite cylinder has a more visually appealing and fresh design. It will help in placing the product as other FMCG.
e. Low maintenance as compared to steel cylinder.
