India reports 628 new COVID-19 cases; Karnataka records 125 fresh cases and three deaths

New Delhi, Dec 26: India witnessed a spike of 628 new COVID-19 cases in a single day, contributing to an active caseload of 4,054, as per the latest data from the Union Health Ministry. The total fatalities reached 5,33,334 (5.33 lakh), with one new death reported from Kerala in the preceding 24 hours, according to the data updated at 8 am.

With Karnataka reporting 125 fresh cases of Covid-19 and three new coronavirus-related deaths in the last 24 hours, bringing the total active cases in the state to 436, according to a health bulletin released on Monday.

The bulletin from the Health department stated that in the same period, 30 patients were discharged, and a total of 3,155 tests were conducted, including 2,072 RT-PCR and 1,083 Rapid Antigen tests.

The positivity rate is reported at 3.96%, while the case fatality rate stands at 2.4%. The three new Covid-19-related deaths were reported in Dakshina Kannada on December 22, in Hassan on December 23, and in Dakshina Kannada on December 24.

All patients reportedly complained of breathlessness. Currently, there are 400 individuals in home isolation, and 36 are hospitalised out of the total active cases in the state.
