Shillong, April 16: The Indian Army has successfully completed ARMEX-24, a high-altitude adventure expedition that showcased endurance, resilience, and operational preparedness.
The 28-day mission, including acclimatisation, saw troops traverse 146 kilometres from the dense jungles of North Bengal to the snow-covered heights of Sikkim.
Conducted between March 22 and April 14, the expedition involved 18 days of intense movement across steep gradients, rugged terrain, and unpredictable weather. A team of 20 specially selected soldiers, trained for high-altitude conditions, took part in the mission, facing extreme physical and mental challenges.

The route covered altitudes ranging from sub-tropical forest levels to over 14,000 feet, pushing the soldiers to adapt to low-oxygen and high-stress environments.
“ARMEX-24 is more than just an expedition—it reflects the Indian Army’s ethos of perseverance, discipline, and operational readiness,” said a senior Army official. “Such initiatives strengthen leadership, build camaraderie, and prepare our troops for real-world missions.”
The successful completion of ARMEX-24 highlights the Indian Army’s focus on terrain-based, realistic training and continues to inspire youth across the country to embrace adventure, resilience, and a spirit of national service.
