Inter-School U-16 Boys cricket tournament 2024 set to begin in Tura from Wednesday

Tura, Oct 22: Alongside the inter-college level cricket tournaments, the Inter-School Under-16 Boys Cricket Tournament is all set to begin in Tura on Wednesday.

The tournament is also being organised by the Tura District Cricket Association (TDCA) in collaboration with Meghalaya Cricket Association (MCA) and District Sports Office at Alotgre Cricket stadium in Tura.

Five schools are taking part in the tournament, namely Captain Williams School, UTD Mukdangra Secondary School, Little Flower Higher Secondary School, Government Boys Higher Secondary School, and Kendriya Vidyalaya, Tura.

With matches to be played almost every day, the first qualifier for the final spot will be decided on October 28 and the second finalist will be decided on November 1.

The final will take place on November 2.

All matches are scheduled at 1 PM, including the final.

23-10-24: Captain Williams School vs UTD Mukdangra Secondary School (Match 1)
24-10-24: Little Flower Higher Secondary School vs Kendriya Vidyalaya, Tura (Match 2)
26-10-24: Government Boys Higher Secondary School vs Winner of Match 2 (Match 3)
28-10-24: Winner of Match 1 vs Winner of Match 3 (Qualifying for Final) (Match 4)
29-10-24: Loser of Match 1 vs loser of Match 2 (Match 5)
31-10-24: Loser of Match 3 vs Loser of Match 4 (Match 6)
01-11-24: Winner of Match 5 vs Winner of Match 6 (Match 7)
02-11-24: Final match between the winners of Match 4 and Match 7.

All players have been asked to wear proper sports shoes, and the organizing committee will supply balls and cricket equipment, including bats, helmets, gloves, and leg guards. Players must also wear colored jerseys, though school jerseys are also permitted. If needed, jerseys will be provided by the organizers.

TDCA will provide light refreshments and water exclusively for the players during the matches.

The tournament will apply ICC T20 rules, including powerplay restrictions, where only two fielders are allowed outside the inner circle for the first six overs. No more than five fielders can be positioned outside the inner circle after the 6th over.
