Inter-College U-22 Boys’ and Girls’ cricket tournaments underway in Tura

Tura, Oct 22: The highly exciting and anticipated Inter-College Cricket U-22 Boys’ and Girls’ Tournaments 2024 commenced in Tura in West Garo Hills district on Monday.

The tournaments are being organised by the Tura District Cricket Association (TDCA) in collaboration with Meghalaya Cricket Association (MCA) and District Sports Office at Alotgre Cricket stadium, Tura.

Inter-College Cricket U-22 Boys’ Tournament 2024

In Inter-College Cricket U-22 Boys’ Tournament 2024, 10 teams are participating, divided into 3 groups – Group A, B and C.

Group A includes Don Bosco College, Mason Phillips Academy, Durama College, and Tura Polytechnic. Group B consists of Tura Government College, ICFAI University, and PASF-Abong Noga College, while Group C features Don Bosco Higher Secondary School, Tura Government Boys Higher Secondary School, and Tura Christian College.

The tournament will see intense group-stage competition, culminating in a playoff between the winners of Group B and Group C on October 31, 2024.

The final match is slated for November 2, 2024, where the Group A winner will face the playoff winner for the championship title.

The matches are scheduled at 9 AM and 1 PM.

Inter-College Cricket Girls’ Tournament 2024

The Inter-College Cricket Girls’ Tournament 2024, which also began on Monday, features 7 teams, divided into two groups.

Group A includes Tura Government College, Tura Christian College, PASF-Abong Noga College, and Durama College. Group B has Don Bosco College, Government Boys Higher Secondary School, and ICFAI University.

The girls’ tournament will run parallel to the boys’ competition, with group-stage matches culminating in a final on November 2, 2024.

Most of the girls’ matches are scheduled at 12 noon.

Executive Member of TDCA, Robert Ch. Momin, while speaking to Hub News, said, “We have organised this tournament along with MCA and District sports office to keep up the spirit of cricket among the youths, especially from schools and colleges and also to observe and identify potential future players from this region.”

Mentionably, TDCA is also providing all the necessary gears to the players of all the teams participating in the matches along with light refreshments to all team members.
