Jowai, June 19: The Joint Action Committee (JAC) comprising of 11 villages of East JaiƱtia Hills, through which the dilapidated NH 6 passes, have started the indefinite road blockade of the said highway from Wednesday.
These villages include Ratacherra, Dona Umbluh, Dona Skul, Umkiang, Lumphyllut, Lumsoski, Pyrtakuna, Borsara, Kuliang, Shymplong and Tongseng.
The JAC has demanded the immediate repair of the NH 6 from Malidor to Tongseng, which is in very bad shape.
Following this announcement, the Dolloi of Elaka Narpuh, the JaiƱtia National Council, the FKJGP, amongst other organisations have extended their support to the JAC.
Daily Commuters who were present at the site on Wednesday have also expressed their anguish against the NHAI for not repairing the crucial highway.
The JAC also informed that the highway will be blocked indefinitely until a proper action is taken by the authorities.
