Jowai, Sept 1: The Sanction Letter under the People’s College Scheme was handed over to Jaiñtia Eastern College, Khliehriat on Wednesday where 31 teachers of the College will benefit from the Scheme.

Education Minister, Lahkmen Rymbui said one of the first goals of the MDA government is to improve the education infrastructure in the state and this scheme is one of the tenets to achieve this goal and stated that this is all possible under the leadership of the Chief Minister, Conrad Sangma.

He also lauded the officers and staffs of the Department for their untiring work to make this a reality in ensuring that the education is improved in the state and hoped that the College will be able to serve the students’ community of the area and the district better.

Also speaking on the occasion, Social Welfare Minister and the MLA of Khliehriat, Kyrmen Shylla expressed his happiness that the College is the second college to benefit from the Scheme after Nongtalang College and thanked the Education Minister for this hard work that made this a reality.
