Jowai, Oct 6: Meghalaya Health Minister, James Sangma on Wednesday laid the foundation stone for the upgradation of Shangpung PHC to a Community Health Centre at a function at Community Hall in the presence of the Local MLA, Comingone Ymbon.

The building of the new CHC after construction will have 30 beds and 4 specialist doctors. Sangma informed that as soon as he took over the Health Department as a Minister, the Local MLA has been meeting him frequently to follow-up on the upgradation of the Centre.Comingone Ymbon, while addressing the gathering, informed that this day will be a memorable one for the people of Shangpung and surrounding villages and the CHC will be a blessing in disguise.
Both Comingone and Sangma thanked the Chief Minister, Conrad Sangma under whose leadership the upgradation of the PHC was possible.
