Guwahati, Oct 6 : Dispur police on Wednesday re-arrested accused Rajkanya Baruah in the hit and run case of 9 PWD labourers in Guwahati.
Baruah was arrested after GMCH panel submitted a report to the Dispur ACP that she has no health complications and is totally free.
A team of six doctors of Gauhati Medical College and Hospital (GMCH) on Wednesday visited GNRC to re-examine former model Rajkanya Baruah who knocked down nine PWD labourers in Guwahati recently.
As per the medical board, there was no serious or acute condition that warranted her to be admitted into a hospital.
“Various Clinical scores were applied. APACHE & RTS (Revised Trauma Score) was applied to the clinical and biochemical reports which does not fit to keep her into a ICU setup/ Medical admission (CT brain and X-ray- Cervical spine are within normal limit). Blood investigations are within normal limit,” the report stated.
Dr Purujit Choudhury, Chairman, Medical Board, GMCH stated, “In view of the above findings, she is fit to appear before I/O for the needful and does not require any hospitalization. In case of any medical emergency she may visit GMCH emergency department / OPD.”
A case of drink and drive
Rajkanya Baruah is accused of drunk driving and she had knocked down 9 PWD workers with her speeding car on October 2 at around 2 am in the Rukminigaon Gaon area. One pedestrian identified as Joseph has lost both his legs in the accident and is currently admitted in GMCH.
Rajkanya Baruah was arrested but was granted bail within 24 hours of the accident citing no serious IPC section clamped on her by police, which later received massive public criticism, and after that Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma order re-investigation into the matter under Dispur Police Station second Officer in-charge Jugananda Boro.
Baruah’s history of rash driving
Baruah has a criminal past and there were two FIRs against her in cases related to knocking down an ex-MLA’s son over some feud in 2017 with her car and getting into a physical fight with on-duty police officials in front of Terra Maya pub in 2018.
