Shillong, Nov 27: The Khasi Hills Autonomous District Council (KHADC) took action on Monday by shutting down several non-tribal shops and businesses in Laitumkhrah for lacking valid trading documents during a Trading License and Professional Tax inspection.
The inspection, led by Executive Member (EM) in-Charge Land, Teibor Pathaw, and local MDC, Fantin Lakadong, was conducted in the presence of Police from Enforcement wing of the District Council.
KHADC initiated the checks specifically targeting Professional Tax compliance among non-tribal businesses operating in Laitumkhrah, ensuring their adherence to tax regulations.
The inspection spanned from the Fire Brigade area to Ïew Laitumkhrah and other non-tribal shops within Laitumkhrah.
