KHNAM opposes Agatha Sangma’s appointment as MSCPCR Chairperson, alleges nepotism

Must read

Shillong, Sept 7: The Khun Hynniewtrep National Awakening Movement (KHNAM) has expressed strong opposition against the alleged move to appoint Chief Minister Conrad K Sangma’s sister and former Tura MP, Agatha K Sangma, as Chairperson of the Meghalaya State Commission for Protection of Child Rights (MSCPCR).

“The Party expresses its opposition in open display of political power by the MDA Government,” KHNAM working president, Thomas Passah, said in a statement on Saturday.

“Appointment of Advisors, Chairman, Vice Chairmans etc at the expense of the exchequer has already caught the lime light to which the general public have expressed concern and dissatisfaction. Now with this latest appointment it seems clear that the MDA Government is all out for nepotism and political appointment just to ensure to forcefully hold on to power. This is total dictatorship,” he said.

Further, Passah said, “We are also surprised to know that James Sangma is also the key person in this decision wherein he has submitted a written proposal to the Government. Now, how can a general public have any say in government decision. We know that other political parties who are in the MDA will not object to such nepotism since they too have their share of political appointments.”
