Khooid Yaka Wah Myntdu, AJMRWLU campaign for using reusable, traditional carry bags to market

Jowai, April 8: In order to encourage people to stop using plastic materials especially plastic bags in order to protect the environment, the All Jaiñtia Muster Roll Workers Labour Union (AJMRWLU), Jowai Unit, and the Khooid Yaka Wah Myntdu – an organisation working for the protection of Myntdu River, on Friday visited different markets of Jowai town and brought along with them carry bags (cloth/woollen), the tradition khoh and chang (Bamboo Baskets) and tiffin to buy vegetables and meat from these markets.

Friday was the traditional market day of Musiang.

President of Khooid Yaka Wah Myntdu, K.L. Pariat, and President of All Jaiñtia Muster Roll Workers Labour Union, Jowai Unit, Dayoo Iakai, while speaking to media persons urged upon the public to stop using plastic bags and plastic materials because the traditional bags and baskets are not only reusable but also eco-friendly.
