Tura, March 9: The Meghalaya Koch Women Association (MKWA) celebrated International Women’s Day in Ghasura, Ampati, South West Garo Hills.
Dr. Anupama Mishra, Project Incharge of the All India Research Coordinated Project on Women in Agriculture at the College of Community Science, Tura, along with Konika D Koch, adviser of MKWA, chaired the program.
The event commenced with cultural programs, followed by a speech from the General Secretary, Kausalya D Hargiya. Dr. Rangana Koch, Assistant Teacher at Sulguri Deficit Secondary School in South West Garo Hills, also delivered an address, highlighting the significance of education and empowerment for women in rural areas.
The program also witnessed felicitation of mothers with appreciation certificates. Dr. Anupama Mishra and Mohuwa Koch, Presidents of MKWA, voiced for women empowerment and advocated for gender equality.
