Williamnagar, Aug 14: Krishi Vigyan Kendra (KVK), East Garo Hills, organized a five days vocational training program on “Post Harvest Management Technologies in Agricultural sciences for income generation” at Fisheries Training Hall, Williamnagar, from August 8 to 14 to encourage the local youth for self employment and entrepreneurship, where a total of 25 youth of the district participated.
During the training, Dr. Brijendra Singh Rajawat, Principal Scientist and Head of KVK, East Garo Hills, highlighted the importance of hands-on vocational training and stressed on the need to impart proper training to enhance local farmers’ skills on value addition to increase their income in the fast changing world.
Dr. Trudy Tengse A Sangma, SMS-Horticulture, during the course of training, imparted hands-on training on value addition of pineapple and demonstrated the preparation methods of jam, squash, RTS beverages and barfi while Dr. Nirupama Chanu, SMS- Agri Engineer, gave hand-on demonstration on value addition in jack-fruit, preparation of chips, mixture, papad and jam.
Dr. Zosangpuii, SMS-Livestock Production, demonstrated value addition on milk and meat and imparted hands-on training on preparations of paneer and pickle while Dr. Milind B Katare, SMS-Fisheries, delivered a lecture on fish processing technology and Dr. Y Herojit Singh, imparted training on value addition on mushroom techniques.
