Landslide in Uttarakhand’s Chamoli Blocks Badrinath National Highway

New Delhi, July 10: Since the onset of the monsoon, several parts of India have faced disruptions and flood-like situations. On Tuesday, a massive landslide in Uttarakhand’s Chamoli district blocked the Badrinath National Highway.

A viral video captured the dramatic event, showing a large portion of a hill crumbling and falling onto the road, obstructing the route. The incident occurred at Chundu Dhar in Joshimath. In the video, some tourists can be seen recording the destruction on their mobile phones while others scream in panic and run for safety.

According to media reports, the Badrinath Highway was blocked last week as well, after debris fell and piled up at two locations in Chamoli, leaving many commuters stranded.

Additionally, heavy rain has caused waterlogging on several roads in Champawat and Udham Singh Nagar districts. Tragically, on Saturday, two tourists were killed in Chamoli district after being hit by boulders triggered by a landslide.
