Nongpoh, May 24: In a gruesome murder case, a man was found dead with slash wounds on the back of his neck at his house in Umtasor Mawdkhar, Ri Bhoi District. The victim has been identified as Amison Muruh, aged 35.
According to information received, the incident occurred on Thursday evening while the victim was alone at home. Reportedly, he was attacked by an unknown assailant with a sharp weapon.
Speaking to the Headman of Umtasor Mawdkhar, M. Mukhim, it was revealed that he received the information around 7:30 pm. He, along with village elders, rushed to the victim’s house and found the body lying in a pool of blood with slash wounds on the back of the neck.
The village elders, along with the headman, immediately informed the Nongpoh Police.
The headman mentioned that the police are underway with the investigation and took the body to Nongpoh Civil Hospital for a post-mortem examination.
He also informed that the police have detained suspects for interrogation.
As the Headman, M. Mukhim condemned the murder, stating that such a heinous crime occurred for the first time in the village, sparking fear among the residents.
He urged the police department to swiftly investigate the case so that the culprits involved could be nabbed.
