SHILLONG, Sept 16: Rev up your engines as Garo Hills would be on top gear with drag racing fuelled by music, food, local brew, art and craft all to take you through a journey never taken before.

From October 3 to 5, LIVE @ GARO HILLS 2.0 featuring Dragzilla Vol 1 would be held at Baljek, about 30 kms from Tura in West Garo Hills, where the roar of the engine would compete with the beats of live music and there would be a number of such artists from all over India who would belt out soulful numbers for the public.

Some of these amazing artists who would perform are: Bombay Vikings, Bombay Bassment, Rito Riba, Shankuraj Konwar, TRAP, MUZ, Saldorik, Polar Lights, DOTH and many more. The event would also give an opportunity for local artists to perform and enthrall the audience.

For the motor enthusiast, in this one-of-its-kind event, the organisers have tied up with Gearhead Motorsports Foundation to hold the drag race. It would be one of the meanest races, the organisers promised, when the rubber meets the road.

Both two and four-wheelers would burn some rubber. The organisers said that racing enthusiasts from all over the northeast and some parts of India would be participating in the event. Moreover, a number of influencers would be visiting the Garo Hills and showcasing this beautiful land to the rest of the country and world.

If this line-up of eclectic musicians and drag racers are not enough then one can head straight to the food stalls which would offer some of the mouth watering local and other cuisines as well as local brew!

After a sumptuous meal, one can witness the art and craft stalls and head straight into the world of creativity. The organisers say a number of local artisans would display their creative works.

The organisers have ensured that everyone gets to enjoy this event and therefore the tickets have been reasonably priced at Rs. 199, and also available online. The event is being supported by Meghalaya Tourism and Meghalayan Age Limited and is being organised by Ivory Valley in association with VAS Incorporated, Madmax and Gearhead Motorsports Foundation.

Apart for the thrill and enjoyment there is also a serious attempt by the organizers to assist in employment of local youths and also their skill development. In this regard, the general crew and volunteers would be sourced locally.

Engaging this local youth during the event would not only help them financially but also equip them with valuable skills in managing and handling large-scale events and help their employability in future ventures.

The event would undoubtedly boost tourism as about 25-30 percent of the visitors and participants would be from other states of the country and could serve as a stepping stone for future collaborations with national and international auto giants with the hosting of the drag race.
