Shillong, Dec 8: The Pillangkata OP and Umiam PS of Ri Bhoi district, law enforcement in an overnight operation confiscated a substantial cache of arms, ammunition, and illegal wildlife items from an individual residing at 9th mile Baridua in Ri Bhoi district in Friday.
The individual, suspected to be a resident of Mizoram, is now in custody.
Meanwhile, a case has been registered under Khanapara police station case number 52(12) 23 US 120 B / 468/405/420/380 IPC RW sec 27 arms act and RW sec 51 Wildlife Protection Act.
Following successful coordinated operation, Meghalaya CM Conrad Sangma congratulated Ri-Bhoi police for their tireless efforts and detaining the individual.

The seized items include:
– 1052 AK-47 ammunition
– 7 LMG 7.62 ammunition
– 14 INSAS 5.56 ammunition
– 30 .32 pistol ammunition
– 3 empty cases
– 1 tear smoke grenade
– 1 hand grenade
– 1 INSAS empty magazine
– 3 AK-47 empty magazines
– 1 lower jaw with teeth of a wild boar
– 7 deer antlers (horns)
– 1 deer skull
– 34 stamp seals from various government departments
