Imphal, June 23: Yet again, security forces and suspected armed groups has engaged in gunfight at Gwaltabi area along the Imphal-Ukhrul road on Friday after the militant group sneaked in Manipur.
According to sources, the gunfight started at about 12 noon near Yaingangpokpi bazaar and continued for few hours. No casuality or injuries have been reported from the incident.
According to reports, many vehicle from Ukhrul to Imphal are now stranded at Litan and awaiting from the situation to be controlled.
Hundreds of Meira Paibis armed with Indian flags have gathered at Yaingangpokpi and stopped vehicles coming from Imphal.
On June 21, unprovoked firing continued from Urangpat in Manipur, with one IED blast reported south of Kwatka on a bridge near Ward No. 9.
In Kwatka, Bishnupur district, two people were killed and four were injured, though official confirmation on the number of casualties is yet awaited.
Meanwhile, security forces have launched a combing operation to flush out the militants.
