Manipur BJP submits memo to JP Nadda to solve Manipur crisis, flags ‘people’s anger

Imphal, Oct 1: The Manipur BJP on Saturday submitted a memorandum to BJP National President JP Nadda seeking his intervention to solve the Manipur crisis.

The memorandum said, “You are quite aware that the current unrest has almost cross four months from May 3, 2023 till today. It is also pertinent to know that the general public in particular is facing acute difficulties in their day-to-day life during this period. Our party in the state level is also playing a major crucial role in coping up with the new development in this crisis. Public anger and protest is now slowly turning the tide, putting the sole onus of this prolonged disturbances solely into the failure of the government in dealing with the situation.”

“We know that our government is also working unstopped day and night so as to bring back normalcy in the state. Some of the key important issues which the general public demands both the center and the state to act immediately are highlighted below for your kind information and necessary action,” the memorandum stated.

It further added, “To immediately restore free flow of traffic along the two national highways of which the Center and the state should use all possible efforts to maintain the traffic even to the extent of using coercive means such as arresting those unwanted elements who are now trying to create trouble along this highway immediately,”.

“Immediate Re-settlement and Re-habilitation of all the displaced persons at their original place of residence as soon as possible and also to see that they get whatever that has been promise by the government in terms of compensation for the lost houses and ex-gratia for the injured & deceased persons,” it stated.

It further added, “To completely destroy all poppy plantations in the state and for this to establish a joint monitoring committee for constant vigilance watch where the members should include representatives from the Civil Societies Organisations,”.

“To apprise the Central Ministry of Home Affairs for the early completion of the
campaign for biometric capture of illegal Myanmar’s immigrants so as to enable in early implementation of NRC (National Registrar of Citizenship) in the state,” the memorandum stated.
