“We have to take time to solve the problem because all are our people, we cannot use force against them. Whatever the common issues, we will resolve. During the crisis time it was difficult for the security personnel to move in Imphal valley but now normalcy has returned. Normalcy has been slowly returning in Kangpokpi and Churachandpur district which are the most affected during the violence,” Singh stated.

He further appealed to all citizens of India, particularly those living in Manipur, to stop violence and start peaceful dialogue. “We have to live together again and we have to resettle those who are displaced during the violence,” he said.

The northeastern state has been embroiled in ethnic clashes between the Meitei and Kuki communities, following the Meitei’s demand for Scheduled Tribes (ST) status. More than 180 people have been killed since the violence started on May 3, 2023.
