Manipur CM convenes urgent meeting with all MLAs after kidnapping of two Meitei men

Imphal, Sept 29: Following the abduction of two individuals from the Meitei community, Manipur Chief Minister N. Biren Singh held an emergency meeting with all MLAs on Sunday to discuss the current state of affairs and coordinate efforts to rescue the kidnapped victims.

A video widely circulated on social media shows the two kidnapped men pleading with the Chief Minister to save their lives. In the footage, both men, dressed in white T-shirts, are heard urging Singh to meet the demands of their captors immediately.

In a statement posted on Facebook, CM N. Biren Singh expressed his deep concern over the incident: “Held a meeting with all the MLAs from both the Ruling and Opposition parties at my Secretariat today. We focused on the current situation in the state, particularly the rescue of two innocent youths abducted by Kuki militants. We strongly condemn such heinous acts, and our government is working tirelessly to ensure their safe release.”

The two missing men, identified as Oinam Thoithoi Singh and Thokchom Thoithoiba Singh, were reportedly abducted while on their way to participate in an army recruitment rally.

According to the parents of one of the victims, another man who had been abducted alongside them, Ningombam Johnson Singh, was rescued by the army on Saturday. His parents, speaking to media outlets, revealed that he had been severely beaten by the kidnappers, sustaining multiple bruises on his body and a wound on his hand.

Meanwhile, the families of the two missing men have taken to social media to appeal to the kidnappers for their release, pleading for their safety.
