Manipur CM N. Biren Singh highlights people-centric governance amid challenges

Must read

Imphal, Dec 26: Manipur Chief Minister N. Biren Singh said his focus has always been on transforming Manipur into a model of people-centric governance.

Speaking on the Good Governance Day on December 25, Biren Singh emphasized the state’s progress before ethnic violence disrupted normalcy in May 2023.

Singh painted a picture of a Manipur on the rise, recalling landmark moments such as hosting G-20 events, the Femina Miss India competition, and the tri-nation football tournament. “Before May 3, 2023, we were on the right path of development and governance,” he said, acknowledging the disturbing toll of recent unrest.

Since coming to power in 2017, Singh said the focus has been transforming Manipur into a model of people-centric governance. Flagship initiatives such as Meeyamgi Numit have brought tangible benefits to citizens, offering easier access to crucial documents, health services, and rural employment schemes. Through this initiative, residents can obtain certificates, permits, and land revenue documents; receive soil health and farmer cards; undergo health check-ups; and address issues related to MGNREGS.

“These initiatives are at the heart of our commitment to the people,” Singh emphasized.

Other impactful programs include the College Fhagathansi Mission and Chief Ministergi Artistesinggi Tengbang (CMAT), which aim to nurture education and support the arts.

Singh also paid tribute to former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee, whose establishment of the DoNER Ministry laid the groundwork for the region’s comprehensive development.
