Imphal, Dec 11: The Forum for Restoration of Peace (FRP) has vehemently criticised the brutal assault on three Tangkhul youth on the evening of December 3, 2023 at Sawombung by a group of Meira Paibis and unidentified insurgents.
“The repeated violent attacks on innocent Naga civilians in Imphal valley by Meitei unknown groups and Meira paibis deeply pain and troubled our collective conscience. The Nagas now feel very insecure in Imphal and its surrounding places,” the FRP stated in a press release.
It further added, “If such attack continues unabated against the Nagas, it might create an unwanted situation in the Naga dominated districts of Manipur.”
The forum fervently made a strong appeal to the State government to control and rein in such anti-social elements to check and prevent further escalation of the ethnic conflicts in the state.
Since the outbreak of the communal conflict in the state since May 3, 2023, FRP said a series of physical abuses and violent attacks and killing have been carried out by valley’s unknown groups against the Nagas.
