Manipur: Indian Army jawan abducted, killed by unidentified miscreants in Imphal West

Imphal, Sept 17: An Army jawan was abducted by an unidentified miscreants and later killed him at Neikanlong, Happy Valley in Imphal West.

The deceased Army jawan has been identified as Serto Thangthang Kom. He was from 474B, DSC platoon of 302 company of Indian Army.

According to police, the soldier of Indian Army was abducted from his home at about 10 AM on September 16 while the soldier was on leave.

According to his son, who was the only eyewitness to the crime, said that three miscreants entered the home while the father and son were working on the porch and placed a pistol on his father’s temple and forced him into a white vehicle, before driving away with him.

There was no news of the braveheart, till this morning at about 9:30 AM when his body were found at Khuningthek Village East of Mongjam under Sogolmang PS, Imphal East.

His identity was confirmed by his Brother and Brother-in-law who stated that the soldier had been murdered by a single bullet to his head. The post mortem report is awaited.

The Brave Soldier who breathed his last at the hand of miscreants is survived by wife, a daughter and a son.

The last rites will be conducted as per the family.

Meanwhile, Army has rushed a team to assist the bereaved family in every possible way

Indian Army strongly condemns the killing of Serto Thangthang Kom and stands by his family in these difficult times.
