Manipur: IYC president Srinivas BV visits Churachandpur to take stock of situation, visits relief camps

Imphal, July 13: Days after Congress leader Rahul Gandhi’s Manipur visit, Indian Youth Congress president Srinivas BV on Thursday visited violence-hit State’s Churachandpur district and took stock of the ongoing violence in the state.

Srinivas BV was welcomed amid slogans like “we want separate administration” ,”Biren government down down down” , “no separation no rest at the site of the Wall of remembrance near peace ground.”

He also looked at the dummy coffins of the tribal heroes amidst shouts of slogans.

Srinivas arrived in Imphal on Thursday at Churachandpur at around 2 pm and soon after his arrival he inspected the place where the portraits of the fallen tribal heroes were kept.

He then proceeded to ECA relief camp and distributed daily essential items.

Srinivas also visited the Greenwood relief camp , Rengkai Govt H/S relief camp and thereafter went to visit the families of( L) David Thiek.

The tensions escalated in the state on May 3 between the Meitei and Kuki communities are being reported from the state during the tribal solidarity march.

Over 140 people have lost their lives and around 54,000 people have been displaced due to the ongoing violence in the state.
