Imphal, Feb 2: Residents of Moreh including Women Union members gathered at Key Location Point (KLP) near Assam Rifles camp at Moreh town on Friday to prevent the airlift of recently arrested duo of Phillip K. Khongsai and Hemlal Mate, allegedly involved in the killing of an SDPO.
With reports circulating about a helicopter being flown into Moreh for the duo’s airlift, women leaders gathered the public at the KLP to prevent it.
However, at around 2:30 pm, news surfaced that authorities had abandoned plans for the airlift, leading the public to disperse, while women remained at the KLP.
Meanwhile, local cable reporters from TC Network were denied entry to KLP by army, sparking public protest against what they viewed as an affront to democracy.
