Imphal, Jan 21: Security forces in Manipur recovered and neutralised three improvised explosive devices (IEDs) along the sensitive Indo-Myanmar border ahead of Republic Day celebrations, police said on Tuesday.
The IEDs were detected during an intensive area domination and sanitisation operation near Border Pillars 72–73. Officials said the explosives were safely defused in situ in an isolated location.

“During routine patrolling, security personnel recovered the IEDs concealed in the border zone,” a police official said.
Authorities stated that the operation was part of heightened security measures aimed at preventing cross-border infiltration and potential sabotage in the strategically important region.
Security forces have intensified operations along the Indo-Myanmar border in view of Republic Day, as insurgent groups have in the past attempted to disrupt national celebrations. Such groups routinely call for boycotts of Republic Day and Independence Day and often step up activities during this period.
