Manipur: Two Army jawans injured after armed miscreants resorted to unprovoked firing in Imphal West

Imphal, June 22: Spear Corps, Indian Army on Thursday informed that two soldiers sustained minor injuries after armed miscreants resorted to unprovoked firing in N Boljang, Imphal West Distt in the morning hours of Thursday.

It further said that both the soldiers are stable.

Also, one INSAS light machine gun was recovered during the initial search.

Earlier in the day, Assam Rifles, in a joint operation with Manipur Police (Commando) recovered Mortar HE Bomb from General Area Mongjam Foothills, Imphal East.

On Tuesday, four suspected cadres of proscribed United Liberation Front was apprehended at Lilong, Thoubal district.

This was done based on intelligence inputs, following which mobile vehicle check post was established near Police Station Lilong on night June Monday night.

Four suspected cadres were apprehended in a two separate vehicles with One 51 mm Mortar & handed over to Police.

Meanwhile, Union Home Minister Amit Shah has called for all party meet on Saturday (June 24).

Former Congress President Sonia Gandhi has also released a video message, saying that she is deeply pained to see the people being forced to flee the only place they call home.

She also appealed for peace and harmony.

Sonia Gandhi said, “I appeal for peace and harmony. Our choice to embark on the path of healing will shape the kind of future that our children will inherit.”

“I have immense hope and faith in the people of Manipur and I know that together we will overcome this ordeal,” she added.
