Shillong, April 10: Several areas of 11th mile were plunged into darkness after the transformer near the North East Cancer Hospital at Jorabat caught fire, which damaged the main power line.

Fire engines were rushed to the spot which took about half to an hour to control the blazing flames.

The cause of the fire could not be ascertained but reports said the fire broke out around 12:30 AM on Saturday morning (April 9).

No injuries were reported till the filing of the report.
