Shillong, Aug 2: The medical staff including doctors, nurses, and other supporting staff of Mawkyrwat Civil Hospital in South West Khasi Hills have threatened to stop the OPD and Emergency Services from August 5 due to failure to release their salaries for three months (May-July 2024).
The staff of Mawkyrwat Civil Hospital wrote a letter to the Director of Health Services (MI) Shillong on July 23 and, to date, have not received any satisfactory response from the government.
In the letter, the staff stated, “We, the staff (doctors, staff nurses, and other supporting staff) of Mawkyrwat Civil Hospital, South West Khasi Hills, would like to bring to your attention that we have inquired about the non-payment of our salaries from May 2024 to date with a letter dated July 23, 2024, and we have not received any satisfactory response regarding the same.”
As such , the staff of Mawkyrwat Civil Hospital added that they will proceed with the stoppage of OPD and Emergency Services in their hospital effective from 9 AM on August 5, 2024.
